Dentistry was destined to my profession long before I was born. I am not only the grandson of a distinguished clinician and professor of the School of Dentistry at University of Buffalo but, I am also the son of tag team mother and father dentists. To say that dentistry runs in my blood and genes is an understatement. Being a third generation dentist, I was surrounded by the profession all my life. When I was young, I thought that the term "family dentistry" meant that it was your family that provided the dentistry. At a young age, I would often answer the family phone and take messages from patients that were experiencing some form of dental issue. I became quite adept at asking about symptoms, durations and phone numbers, and then quickly relaying that message to my parents. I was very familiar with the sights, sounds and even smells of a dental office. Growing up I came to realize these were going to be my future.
My parents graciously gave me all the knowledge of the profession, but they never forced me into becoming a dentist, they wanted me to find my own path there. I always assumed I would work in the health field, so I began taking college classes that geared me in that direction. Before I knew it I was taking a prep course for the dental entrance exam, and soon after, took the actual exam. I excelled in many of the crucial components of the exam, showing schools I had what it takes to analyze and acquire the skills of dentistry. I eventually chose to attend both my grandfather and parent’s alma mater, University of Buffalo School of Dentistry. Four years and many sleepless nights later, I graduated with my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and was accepted into the Veterans Affairs Hospital Dental Residency Program. One year later with that experience under my belt, I felt ready to treat people in a private setting. I joined my parent’s practice, Jauch Family Dental, in 2006and became the practice’s sole practitioner and business owner in 2010. The family practice allows me to enjoy treating may different age ranges and people from all walks of life. The legacy and tradition of dentistry runs deep within me. The last 15 years have allowed me to develop long lasting relationships with my patients and a commitment to patient centered care. I love what I do and I show it every day to each and every patient.
